This is my 17th year teaching in Wichita, but my first year as an AVID elective teacher. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from WSU. I taught elementary school at Irving and Washington for 13 years before moving to Coleman 4 years ago to head up the ESOL department when Coleman became and ESOL Middle School. I have loved my transition to middle school and getting to see students that I first met as second graders grow up and mature through their middle school years. I get to teach 6th-8th grade and a variety of reading intervention and language arts core classes, so I'm never bored around here! I am married to Kent and I have two children. Samuel is 15 and Julianna is 12. They keep me very busy going to their school and sporting events. However, when I find a free moment I mostly like to read, cook, embroider, and sew quilts.
I'm very excited to be teaching my first AVID elective class! I spend the rest of my school day teaching World Geography to the 7th grade students at Coleman. I attended Wichita State University and grew to love being a basketball fan during that time. I even got to cheer on the Shockers at the Final Four! My wife Hannah is trained as a nurse, but gets to stay home with our son Declan who was born in January 2015. I love working with the passionate students that enroll in AVID at Coleman as they pursue the dream of a college education and successful career path!

I graduated from Wichita State (Go Shox) with my degree in Middle School Education: Math and Social Studies. This is my 6th year teaching and my 8th year working at Coleman. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at Wichita State. In my spare time I love doing DIY and Home Improvement Projects, spending time with my wife and two sons, and watching movies. I love the opportunity to work with our AVID students at Coleman and see how dreams can turn in to a reality with hard work and determination.
